1.  Editorial policy

Atlantide is an open-access online journal that publishes academic articles in the fields of literary studies and cultural history, from Antiquity to the late modern period, with unrestricted time periods and geographical areas. At the institutional level it is affiliated with Nantes Université, and more specifically with the LAMO (Ancient and Modern Literature, UR 4276) research group. Since its creation, it has welcomed submissions from all domains in order to develop a pluralistic understanding of our literary and cultural history, inspired by Plato and Jules Verne.

The articles selected by the journal explore the diverse field of literary studies through proposals which focus on a lite––rary period, theme, figure or function, and are independent of critical trends or schools of thought. This, along with the journal’s broad temporal and geographical scope – ranging from classical literature to more contemporary forms of expression –, its openness to various methods and perspectives, and its inclusion of trans-secular, transcultural and transnational approaches, is what makes the journal distinctive.

The common thread running through each issue is its questioning of literary creation, formal hybridizations, genres and linguistic boundaries. Considering literature in its broadest sense and as a global phenomenon, Atlantide encourages, but is not limited to, comparative approaches revisiting fundamental concepts in literary studies. It also regularly publishes issues featuring prominent figures.

2.  Journal history, profile and organization

Founded in 2014, Atlantide publishes one or two issues per year covering a wide range of original topics. Each issue contains on average eight articles and is curated by a guest editor and a member of the editorial board, a collaboration guaranteeing specialization in the chosen theme and publication continuity. The participation of researchers and editors from outside LAMO (Ancient and Modern Literature) research group – something that has been actively encouraged since the beginning – has provided the journal with an extensive international network of scientific partners who help to ensure its compliance with international research standards and its international reputation. The double-anonymous review process for each article, along with an international editorial board and two committees, guarantees the quality of the journal.

The journal’s commitment to linguistic and cultural diversity is an integral part of its identity: although predominantly French-speaking, Atlantide also publishes articles in English, Spanish and Italian. Author contributions from numerous institutions around the world gives this research platform an international perspective, capable of bringing together different voices and cultural perspectives.

Since it was launched, the journal has been published exclusively in electronic format on the following website: https://atlantide.pergola-publications.fr/ In line with its commitment to open science and the diamond standard of Open Access journals, each Atlantide edition, supported by the LAMO laboratory, is immediately accessible in open access, and articles as well as paginated volumes are available for download.

After a decade of publishing, the journal has migrated to the open access platform Pergola (a scientific journal incubator from the Grande-Ouest region in France), which now provides its hosting and distribution services. It has also received funding from the Pôle éditorial Grand Ouest (Grand Ouest publishing hub) for the creation of a new visual identity.
