Présentation

Atlantide is an open-access online journal that publishes academic articles in the fields of literary studies and cultural history, from Antiquity to the late modern period, with unrestricted time periods and geographical areas. At the institutional level it is affiliated with Nantes Université, and more specifically with the LAMO (Littératures antiques et modernes, UR 4276) research group. Since its creation, it has welcomed submissions from all domains in order to develop a pluralistic understanding of our literary and cultural history, inspired by Plato and Jules Verne. It is published annually or bi-annually with a different theme and editor each time. Submitted articles systematically undergo a double anonymous peer review.

Le numéro vise à présenter un certain nombre d’exemples d’échanges culturels pratiqués sur ce qu’il est convenu d’appeler la Route de la soie, depuis l’antiquité jusqu’au XXe siècle, de façon à montrer le rôle central et fondamental joué par cette voie de communication dans le domaine des savoirs et des lettres. Dans une logique transdisciplinaire, il s’agit de croiser des approches géographique, historique, (géo-)politique, littéraire, culturelle, linguistique, etc. Les contributions sont diverses tant par l'aire culturelle qu'elles abordent (Japon, Chine, Perse, Égypte) que par le domaine dans lequel elles s'inscrivent (littérature, philosophie, linguistique, musique, peinture, histoire), que par la méthodologie adoptée (approche aréale ou approche globale). Elles portent, pour la plupart, sur des cas d'étude précis, ordonnés selon trois grandes orientations successives : les échanges intellectuels, les échanges littéraires et enfin les échanges artistiques.

The issue aims to present a few examples of cultural exchanges practiced on what is known as the Silk Road, from Antiquity to the twentieth century, in order to show the central and fundamental role played by this means of communication in the field of knowledge and letters. In a transdisciplinary logic, the issue is crossing geographical, historical, (geo-)political, literary, cultural, linguistic approaches. The contributions are diverse as much by the cultural area they address (Japan, China, Persia, Egypt) as by the field in which they fall (literature, philosophy, linguistics, music, painting, history), and by the methodology adopted (areal approach or global approach). They focus, for the most part, on specific case studies, organized according to three main successive orientations: intellectual exchanges, literary exchanges, and finally artistic exchanges.
